THE MAE CROMWELL BAND
Mae Cromwell, born in Sudbury, Ontartio on May 20, 1959, is the youngest of five siblings. Mae Inherited her vocal talents from her mother, Grace, who sang on CBC-Halifax radio during WWII.
The turntable in The Cromwell household spun constantly. Mae Grew up singing along to a rich mixture music. The R&B and Funk classics she listened to in the 60's and 70's had a major and lasting impact on her.
Family and Friends encouraged Mae to pursue a singing career but she focused on completing high school and then moving to Toronto and attended York University for a while. She switched to George Brown College and completed the hairdressing course. Mae then launched a successful daytime career as much in demand hair stylist.
In 1995 a friend asked Mae to do some background vocals on a demo and the experienced reignited her passion for singing and performing. Within 2 years, Mae fronted her own band and between playing regular bar gigs and her hairdressing clients she became a must have act for private events.
The talented members of Mae's band compliment her earthy soulful voice perfectly. Their hot blend of jazz, funk, and R&B gets everyone within earshot up out of their seats and on their feet moving and grooving.
