Today we are featuring a Fusion Events band that has truly set itself apart from the rest. Originally conceived in 1997 by Fusion Events founder ArthurK and a few friends, GMMF was never intended to be a “wedding band“. The band started playing in clubs all across Toronto and very quickly developed a massive following. As a result the band started to get requests from fans to play at their weddings. With no advertising or marketing GMMF has become Toronto’s most in demand wedding and events band, simply by word of mouth. In addition to being a “cover” band, GMMF has succesfully made the transition to an “original act” . They released their first original album in 2005 to critical acclaim. In 2008 God Made Me Funky was nominated for a Juno Award for “Best R&B album”. They have toured extensively across Canada and the U.S and have headlined many jazz festivals and have performed with international superstars such as INXS (2010 Winter Olympics), George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic, Afrika Bambatta, Divine Brown, Jully Black, Maestro Fresh Wes, Guru (Jazzmatazz/Blackstar), Sean Kingston and many more. Most Recently God Made Me Funky headlined the 2014 New Years Eve Celebration at Nathan Phillps Square with an estimated 50,000 people in attendance.
The band is currently in the studio working on their 6th studio album and are still entertaining at many weddings and corporate events. If you are looking for an energetic, fun, and incredibly tight band for an event or party consider GMMF. It’s a guaranteed party! Price range for events starts at $5k.
Here is a recent engagement party the band performed at. The Venue was a Leon’s Furniture Store (yes, you heard correct). They emptied out the furniture and turned it into an amazing venue for 400 guests.
