Inside a Song CoLab day
How big does our group need to be?
Song CoLab works for groups from 8 to 40 people in a single day. The most common configuration is four teams of 10 — each team writes its own original song in parallel, so a 40-person company day produces four chart-style tracks. Smaller groups (10-15 people) collaborate on a single song and tend to go deeper on lyrics and arrangement.
Can we run the workshop at our office?
Yes — our songwriters and producers travel to you with everything they need (instruments, microphones, mobile recording rig). You just need a quiet-ish room with power. If you want a more cinematic experience, we can also host the day at a Toronto recording studio or at the Universal Music soundstage.
Do we own the song after the workshop?
Yes. The song belongs to your company. You receive a polished demo at the end of the workshop, and if you add Forever Tracks, a fully-mixed and mastered studio version, plus an optional lyric or music video. Use it however you like — internal launches, conference openers, social, recruiting.
What if no one on our team can sing?
That is the most common worry, and it is genuinely never a problem. The workshop is built around participation, not performance. Our facilitators handle the heavy musical lifting — your team contributes ideas, lyrics, and energy. By the time you sing the chorus together at the 90-minute mark, everyone in the room is already laughing about how good it sounds.
How far in advance should we book?
Six to eight weeks gives us comfortable lead time for venue, songwriter, and production scheduling. We can sometimes accommodate two-to-three week notice for smaller groups, especially in shoulder months. Q4 (Nov-Dec) and offsite-season (Apr-Jun) tend to fill earliest, so reach out as soon as you have a target date.
Can a live band perform our song at our event later?
Absolutely — this is one of the most-loved Forever Tracks add-ons. We learn your finished song, and our band performs it live as the closing moment of your gala, all-hands, or conference. Your team comes on stage to sing the chorus. It is the kind of moment people talk about for years.
